Why is a Carotid Duplex Ultrasonography (CVD) important?

Since the carotid artery is the major blood vessel supplying blood to the brain and is quite large, ultrasound is used for its examination.

This examination is important for:

• Assessing the condition of the carotid artery.
• Detecting fatty deposits in the carotid artery.
• Detecting narrowing or blockage of the carotid artery.
• Helping to infer the extent of fat in other areas.
• Helping to assess and reduce the risk of recurrence in those who have had a stroke.

Preparation for Service - Health Check-up Recommendations

• Abstain from alcohol for 24 hours.
• Get adequate sleep, at least 6-8 hours.
• (If applicable) Bring your medical history and other medical history results.
• (If applicable) Information about any chronic illnesses should be provided prior to receiving the service. Pregnant women or women suspected of being pregnant must notify the staff before the examination.
