RSV vaccination program for pregnant mothers - Nakornthon Hospital
Package Details
Benefits of RSV Vaccine
- When vaccinated during pregnancy, the mother's body produces antibodies to fight the RSV virus. This immunity can be passed to the baby through the placenta, providing protection from birth.
- Reduces the risk of RSV infection in infants by up to 81.8%.
- Reduces hospitalization rates for infants with RSV infection.
Recommended Timing for Vaccination
- The RSV vaccine (Abrysvo) is given to pregnant women between 24 and 36 weeks of gestation. A single injection allows the body to build immunity and effectively transfer antibodies from the mother across the placenta to the baby. This helps build immunity in infants from birth to 6 months of age.
